Our Spotlight On Neutral Paint Colours

Everywhere you look– neutrals. Beige, taupe. Neutral paint color just seem to be everyone’s go-to. And for good reason.

When you hear the word “neutrals”, your first thought is probably beige, taupe, or some sort of off-white.  But those certainly aren’t the only kinds of neutrals.

By definition, neutrals are subdued shades, almost like they’re washed out, helping them blend into the background and with other colours. And that’s exactly why these paint colours just seem to be everywhere.

Why Are Neutrals So Popular?

The main reason you’ll find neutral paint colours in almost every home is that these tones offer limitless decor possibilities. They’re highly versatile, blending in with virtually any other colour and into any decor theme.

Plus, these smooth and easygoing colours bring a cozy yet clean look that makes creating a cohesive aesthetic easier than ever, creating a tranquil atmosphere that really makes a house a home.

Are There Different Types Of Neutrals?

While neutrals can pair with almost anything, they pair best with colours that share the same undertone. To help get that closer fit, there are two different kinds of neutrals.

  • Warm Neutrals: Warm undertone neutrals, camel brown or buttery yellow.

  • Cool Neutrals: Cooler undertones like steely gray or  fawn brown.

However, this isn’t a hard and fast rule. Many neutrals share warm and cool undertones to blend with anything and everything for a super-transitional look.
